The Westcoast Show will now take place over 2 days at the brand new Coast Hotel Convention Center & Casino in Langley.  The first day will have a series of great workshops, and the second day will be the show and sale.

Away from the downtown traffic, out-of-towners will find this full facility center easy to get to.  Fine dining of casual meals, as well as a first class casino will let you enjoy a weekend in the miniature world as well as a chance to kick back and relax.

Westcoast Show room rates are reserved until April 2nd 2008, so please book early.  The Coast Hotel will continue to accept reservations after this date on a space-availability bases, at current available rates.

Poseable Felted Animals

  By Lesley Ansell-Shepherd

Class will create one or more poseable miniature animals with a long or short coat using wool and other fibers.  Basic information on the needle felting technique will be covered enabling students to create a wide variety of animals, dolls, fabrics and wall hangings for their collection using the techniques from this course.  If students wish to attempt a particular dog or cat (type and colour), they can email Lesley directly at Lesley@lesleysgarden.ca   If participants don't have a particular animal in mind each student will make their choice of a raccoon, a dog, or a long haired cat.

Character Doll

Learn techniques which will enable you to make a 1" scale action doll without molds.  Each doll will be unique and realistically posed.  The head, hands are make with Sculpey baking clay.  Clothes are glued together with min stitching.  All materials to complete doll will be supplied.

Turn of the Century Ladies 'Daywear' Blouse on Display Stand

This class if for those of us who don't love sewing and prefer to 'sew' with a glue bottle!  Most of this garment is put together with glue although you will be required to do a little bit of sewing for gathering purposes.    Strong magnification and a good light/lamp are a must.

Complete makings, including genuine vintage Austrian Swarovski crystals, for two pieces of embellishment jewelry, a broach at the neck and a broach/pin watch.

As with all of my classes there will be some additional surprises so...come, have fun, learn a little and enjoy turning little remnants of history into works of art!

Electricity 101

In this class the student will learn the basics of electrifying  a room box.  The tape wiring method will be done first.  If time allows, hardwiring and various methods of adding electrical accessories will be demonstrated and discussed.

A starter kit containing room box  primed; tape wire; junction splice; transformer; transformer lead-in wire; eyelets; brads; pilot0hole punch with needles & #55 drill bit; current tester and instruction booklet will be supplied for each student to take home. Accessories seen are not included

Plant Stand and four hangers

A fun and easy introduction to soldering.  If you can hold a pencil then I can teach you to solder!!

Participants will learn how to free form the scrolls and how to duplicate scroll patterns using templates and jigs and soldering the formed pieces together.  Elements of design, alternative raw materials, ie.-copper and brass and various methods of construction and assemble will be covered.  Finished pieces will be spray painted.

There are several styles of hangers to choose from that would suit most garden styles.  The plant stand comes with its own pot. (fern in photo is not included.)  Also included is a finished hanging basket and if time permits more hangers or a hanging basket can be made.

Tiny Trims & Fringes

Basic weaving techniques for learning edging.  For use on couches chairs lamps etc,  Fringing will also be taught in this very informative class. A loom is included in cost of workshop.  Photo is an example of edging technique.
